John Philip Kearney - Artist - Contemporary abstract art
Artist's statement

"My paintings are an expression of dormant memories uncovered & brought to life on canvas through abstraction".

I feel compelled to create & paint as if I have no choice in the matter.
I evoke my surroundings together with glimpses from my distant past.
For me painting is an emotional event rather than an intellectual one.

Viewers may read any meaning they see fit & appropriate into my work.
I hope frequent viewing rewards the beholder with insight & delight.

The rapid drying nature of acrylic paint, my preferred medium, injects dynamism & urgency within the painting process.

I love the anticipation that composing & painting each canvas brings.
I hope that my viewing public share this sense of  pace & pleasure too.

My painting heroes are Mark Rothko, Gerhard Richter & Sean Scully.
